MOOIKRANS
During our trip at Mooikrans there were a few things that I had to deal with within myself. For one, in general I don’t necessarily like farms. The reason being the smell and the animal feces everywhere. But in all things there is an opportunity to grow and besides the fact that I don’t like smelly things I made the choice to dive fully into what God had for me on this trip and I really did enjoy every part. From fetching cows, to milking them, to stepping in horse poo, grooming horses, feeding chickens and all that, I ended up enoying it all, not allowing smell or anything fleshly take away from the moments I had on this trip.
I’d have to say the highlight for me was actually our obstacle course. Generally because of school I never enjoyed doing obstacle courses, but with a group of blood-bought family members it was a game changer. We had such great fun figuring things out, working together and the patience and love was really there. Even when something as scary as a ‘on fire tire’ comes along everyone jumped in and got the whole team through it. This really just showed me in a very practical way that we are a family.
I don’t think I can pin point one specific encounter it was more of a continual thing. During this trip I just experienced an inexplicable peace. From doing farm chores to riding 60km on a bike (first time ever) I just couldn’t take a a thought saying. God really had his hand over us. Everything we did just worked smoothly and without a hitch. It actually caused most of us to say we don’t want to leave, and we want to come back. Ultimately I just realise that part of the peace was an establishment of God’s love within our group. We are starting to find the true meaing of unconditional love and it a journey we are on, and will continue on for the rest of our lives. I am excited to encounter God in others and with others more and more. Praise the Lord!
