CULLIES 2 DULLIES

Expectations

For this trip my expectations are first of all in God. Yes, I have trained and I have put in the work but God will see me through. I am expecting to have joy on the bike, to enjoy the hype of cycling with my blood-bought family and to just experience the fullness of the journey.

I am also expectant to encounter God through the other people on the bikes and even during the trip. I expect for things to go smoothly and to be enjoyable to everyone because I am part of the planning team.

Then I am also expectant for my parents because they are joining us on this trip. That they may encounter God in new ways, that they may touch new people and that they can enjoy and be a part of the MiXchange.

This trip will be a marker moment for me in cycling, relationships, yielding and relying on Holy Spirit and I can’t wait to experience this something new. Praise the Lord!

New Goals

Having done two day cycling of 80km and 40km. I would like to do 100km cycling in one day. I want to maintain the fitness I have gained and build on that. As for running I would like to do a half marathon (21km).

Memories

Something from this trip that I will treasure is how different people came alongside me at different times and how we were all able to support each other. Even I had moments where I was overwhelmed, the support made it worth the hard work. Looking back you never remember the pain but the joy!.

Experience

For me the trip and cycling experience was barrier breaking. Before the trip I was intentional about saying that I would finish the distances I had set my heart on.

The first day I had some physical discomfort which I had to deal with but I had purposed in my heart that I would finish and after the first 30km the pain was gone. I enjoyed the 82km the first day so much and I was not even tired afterwards. Even though training leading up to the trip was tough at times and required early mornings and high levels of fatigue, it was the endurance training that helped me when it got tough.

The second day my legs were tired and I was a bit nervous for the elevation we were going to face. But I just put my flesh under and got on the bike anyway. It was really tough and by the time we got to nemesis hill I felt like I never wanted to cycle again. But because of the collective greatness I was able to pull through. I relied on God a lot in the last 10km because there was mentally and physically nothing left in me. But praise the Lord that I have opportunities like this to grow!
