Sun City Ultra Triathlon
When I first came to the MiXchange program training was not something I did on a regular basis. At the point and time when we had a meeting, discussing our possible goals, I was enquiring from God for ways in which I could come up in my physical exercise. The activation of the conditioning was exactly what I needed.
Although my flesh did need to come into submission, and I thought jogging 2km was far. I found that the accountability I had towards the other people’s training really did push me to keep going. Before I knew it, I could do a 5km run and it was fun. There were a few mornings where I had to drag myself out of the bed but every time after the training session, I was so energised and motivated to do more. I found during this time of training my energy levels went up a lot which does not make sense in the natural, but I know I reap energy because I sow energy.
A few weeks before the Sun City event I unintentionally improved my personal record per 5km daily. This was really motivating. So on a long training day Elrika and I endeavoured to do a 10km run (my longest run yet). What was so amazing to me was to see that I was capable of far more than I thought.
Leading up to the weekend we did taper off our training, but I was still fit and ready for the sprint. All the planning and packing really hyped me up and I was really excited to participate in such an amazing event. From traveling to setting up camp I enjoyed the fellowship so much. It also really blessed me to see the people who did not participate serving and giving their time to prepare meals, set up tents, clean up and all that. I just perceived that this is just the love of God, and it is not something you will find in any other place than in the Ecclesia.
The Sunday of the sprint was so exciting. I had the privilege of doing relay with my two sisters. Melissa did the swim, Sunelle the cycle and I did the run. It blessed me greatly to see how we had all come up in our physical training and how we were breaking ground for new things in our lives. Melissa had a great swim and Sunelle did very well after doing the 80km the previous day. The execution of the running was so fun. The hills challenged me a bit, but I met a nice gentleman during the run, and we just encouraged one another along the way. God really knows what we have need of in every moment of every day.
